Uutis-Jousi 1979

Siilinjärvi - Maaninka Local Newspaper

On 9 October 2025, a visit was made to the editorial office of Uutis-Jousi and the 1979 yearbook was browsed through. This photo gallery presents all the villages in the Maaninka area that the newspaper had written articles about.

At least the following villages are featured: Kirkonkylä, Vianta, Varpasmaa, Leinolanlahti, Tuovilanlahti, Käärmelahti, Haatala, Kinnulanlahti, Tavinsalmi, Kurolanlahti, Pulkonkoski, Pohjois-Haatala and Ahkiolahti.

In 1979, an S-market was built, which was demolished a few years ago to make way for a new store. Village tours were started in Maaninka, and Maaninka entered the computer age. :) Among the new businesses, Jo-Ja and Maaningan Ma-Ku-Set are worth mentioning. In sports, Maaningan Mahti played pesäpallo, and roller ski competitions were held in Vianta.
