Siilinjärvi - Maaninka Local Newspaper
On 8 October 2025, a rainy day was spent at the Maaninka library browsing through the 1989 yearbook of Uutis-Jousi. These yearbooks are available for everyone to read at both the Maaninka and Siilinjärvi libraries. At the Uutis-Jousi editorial office, researchers also have the opportunity to browse old annual volumes.
Based on the articles, 1989 seemed to be a sports-oriented year. Jari Räsänen, AP Nikkola and Jenny Saarela were in strong form on the sports front. There were elections in the municipality of Maaninka, and positions on the political field were being actively sought. The quality of the line-up of performers at the Maaninkalainen restaurant, Tavinpyrstö, was also striking. Performers included such well-known names as Irwin, Meiju Suvas, Mikko Alatalo and Solistiyhtye Suomi. Below are mainly Maaninka-related pieces for which photos were taken.
